Following my bliss

D and I spent a wonderful weekend away from the city.  The weather was fantastic and so was the company.  We have friends who have a cottage 2 hours north east of Toronto.  The cottage is directly on a lake and we were lucky to have amazing weather to go with the beautiful scenery.  It was a celebratory weekend as our friends wanted to share in our good fortune and hear about our moving plans.  Beer, wine, and champagne — oh, I do love champagne — were the beverages of choice so now I’m back to drinking boring old water!  It was a truly lovely long weekend and I feel so blessed.

So, I’m in quite a happy and blissful state these days.  We haven’t started the final packing yet as D is working on a project for a client.  We have our schedule (sort of) planned out.  Our wedding plans and required visits back to Toronto mean that we had to create a travel schedule.  (D’s 14-year old son is moving with us and so we’ll be in Toronto to pick him up.)  Our trip next month will be a busy one.  D figures that he’ll have meetings with clients in Paris during our first week in France.  Then, we’ll head south on the weekend to visit with les parents and then head to Nice to find an apartment.

Are you surprised to read that we’re looking for an apartment in Nice?  Yes, everything was going the way we hadn’t quite expected — we were moving to Paris — but life and planning conspired to put us back on track.  After all, moving to France was and is our plan and living in Nice was D’s first option.  I prefer to believe that the Paris idea was a test, a distraction perhaps.  So, we’re continuing to plan our work and work our plan.

The apartment/house hunt continues online.  We know that we won’t be able to do much until we are in situ but, as D lived in Nice years ago, we know which areas to avoid.  The goal?  Find an apartment and move in on 1 June 2010.  Here’s to summer in Nice.  Sounds lovely, non?

Oh, I’m so glad to hear you get to move to your first choice. The weather is far better in Nice. And I’ll get to stop by for coffee!

As I sit here typing my reply it’s raining in Toronto. Yes, Nice is sounding more and more attractive. Mmm, coffee will be great too!
