Have tape gun — will travel

I am one with my tape gun.

Although the tv show Have Gun — Will Travel was before my time, I am familiar with the title.  At some point last night/this morning, as I was wielding my super-duper tape gun, the title went through my mind.  Of course I changed the title to suit my purpose and my tenuous mental state.   I started to laugh and only stopped when I realized that it wasn’t all that funny.

There I was, at 2:53 am on a Sunday morning, trying to tape a mattress box closed.  Yes, tape gun in hand I was taping away like a crazy, demented woman.  I was pretty sure my neighbours could hear the ‘grrrrzzzzzhhhh’ sound as I worked the tape gun and cardboard boxes.

I had received some advice about packing the mattress and box spring when the moving stuff was dropped off.  I have to say that following the advice saved me some time and energy.  That’s not to say that packing away the mattress and box spring was easy.  Oh no, no, no.  It wasn’t easy at all.  Both items are cumbersome and doubly so when you’re on your own trying to shove them into a box.  That said, there was no way I was going to let a mattress, box spring, and four huge cardboard boxes get the best of me.  Listen furniture, I am in charge here!

It’s not all about me going crazy though.  I’ve learned something quite important.  You could say it’s revelatory:  stress + weird eating habits + moving furniture = weight loss.  I didn’t consider this prior to packing but hey, my arms are toned (thank you heavy bookshelf), my quads are firm (nothing beats squatting to pick up/put down heavy boxes) and my abs are looking pretty good (lots of twisting and stretching)!  I’m not quite ready for bikini season but this is good news.  I may be losing my mind but at least I look good while I hold on to what’s left of my sanity.

You are so right: no turning back now! It’s just a matter of days now before I’m in France again.
