Walking out to the Cap de Nice

Last weekend was another 20 km weekend for me.  The best part of the 20 km was the 8 km return trip D and I made to the Cap de Nice.  After a leisurely and filling breakfast, we grabbed two bottles of water and headed out.  We headed east toward the port and from there we walked along the bord du mer until we reached Coco Beach.  We then took the path down from the street level to walk along the coast.

At this side of the port the beaches aren’t quite beaches; they’re more like plateaus among the cliffs.  Despite their size the are still popular with the sun seekers.  Swimming among the rocks can be tricky and during storms it is advised not to venture into the water as the waves can be very strong.  Sunday, however, was a beautiful day and sunbathers and cliff divers — kids who decided to disregard the ‘no diving’ signs — were out in full force.

On our walk back D and I decided that we may want to make the trip again.  Now that the beaches on the Promenade are full, even into the early evening, walking out to the Cap and finding a little beach spot of our own would be le top!

This weekend will be another busy weekend as D and I prepare for the kitchen renovation chez les parents.  What are your plans for the weekend?
