I get a little adrenaline rush every time I get to the marché at Cours Saleya. I don’t know what it is and this time of year the buzz is more pronounced.  Cours Saleya hums with the sounds of French mixing in with English, German, and Italian.  Natives and tourists alike wander past stalls, stopping now and then to chat, to sample, to purchase, or just to take a photo.

I have my favourite vendors, of course, that I return to for peaches from Provence and riquette from Nice. If it’s a good day, and it usually is, a little something extra — a bunch of parsley and a little knowing wink — is offered comme cadeau!

Today was no different and with the start of the summer vacation season the marché will only get busier.  The summer vacation season also means that some vendors may also take a break before the silly season starts.  That’s what I call the month of August in Nice.

This is how I found the tomatoes and was inspired to make a nice little entrée that I fondly call tomato traffic lights.

      You’re welcome!
This is where I admit that I’m not a huge fan of raw tomatoes…but they were actually quite tasty.

They were! Would you believe they’re not top on my list of things to eat?
